Meet Joel Threadgold
Private Wealth Adviser, Investor, and Strategist
Most advice firms grow their margin as they grow their funds under management. We run it the other way around. As the book grows, fees compress and access widens. Our take stays where it is. The scale belongs to the clients whose capital created it. That thinking flows into how the portfolios are built. Four models: SafeHarbour, Foundation, Edge and Alpha. All four hold the same thirteen funds. Only the weights change. Most portfolios we inherit look nothing like that. We start by working out what job every dollar is actually doing, then rebuild it so each holding has a defined role. Income is one of those roles. It was never meant to be the whole portfolio.
Our Ethos
We pass through what we get. As the book grows, fees go down and access widens. The economics flow back to the people whose capital produced them. We compound, we don’t trade. Portfolios are built for decades. We will wear a weak quarter if the reinvestment case is intact, and we cut a position when the thesis breaks. We reinvest in better data, research and manager access. We share what we know, including research, fund decisions and the macro read. We say what we mean, including when we are uncertain or wrong.
We hold the same models we recommend.
Every manager is assessed before it enters a model and reviewed on a set cycle after that.
Every holding sits on CFS Edge, so you can see the funds, weights and fees at any time.
Who we work with
Four client groups, each with a different job for their capital.
SMSF trustees running their own fund who want a strategy behind the holdings rather than a list of them.
Professionals and business owners with capital arriving in lumps and no time to allocate it properly.
Retirees who need the portfolio to pay them without selling into a bad market to do it.
Intergenerational families where the money has to outlast the person who made it.
Partners
Banking
Cash accounts are held with Macquarie Bank (MQG). Your money sits with the bank, not with us.

About Joel
Joel Threadgold runs a private wealth practice advising Australian investors on property, credit, structured income and private markets, and has advised on hundreds of millions in capital. The practice operates on a simple bet: leave money on the table today to build something more durable and more trusted tomorrow. Fees compress as the book grows, the research is published free, and the portfolios are built to be held for decades rather than talked about each quarter.
